Founder of Fear Alters Reality (FAR)
My name is Cristal, and I am the founder of Fear Alters Reality (FAR) (est. 2020). The creation of this brand started in May of 2020, despite all the COVID-19 chaos. Feeling alone and allowing your negative emotions to overcome your body can leave you with a distorted reality. At 21 years old, I lied there on my couch feeling weak and vulnerable, as if I never wanted to leave that deep, sunken couch. I couldn’t leave my apartment without my palms sweating, a sick gut feeling, or nervousness. It felt like this motionless cloud was hanging over my body, and anxiety had taken over my reality.
Part of me couldn’t realize or understand how I got to this point in my life where I’m nervous to leave my apartment. Fear Alters Reality is more than just a clothing brand. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I’ve used this brand to connect with my inner self. I’ve learned dedication, patience, resilience, and, most of all, the connection to life. My first connection with life was plants, which led me to my first custom art piece made in Brazil. I wanted this brand to connect with those who feel as helpless as I do when I sink into that mindset. This brand was created to inspire others to take control of their thoughts and strive to become the highest version of themselves.
